For all Larry has contributed to all levels of the Owatonna Wrestling Program the National Wrestling Coaches of Association proudly recognized Larry with 2005 “National Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year” honors. He also received National Regional and Minnesota State “Assistant Coach of the Year” honors that same year. Hovden has been responsible for increased numbers at the Junior High. He plays an instrumental role in the overall success of Owatonna Wrestling. Larry served as the first OWA Youth Wrestling Director back in l988, and the increased significantly as did fundraising.
Hovden continues to serve in several roles to help Owatonna Wrestling. He was Fundraising Director for several years, and has served as OWA Vice-President. He continues to be part of a dynamic duo of KRFO Radio and Charter Intercable Television with Dale Benjamin, broadcasting wrestling meets. Larry and Dale bring much excitement to the coverage of Owatonna Wrestling.
Larry’s wife Lynette, has also helped Owatonna Wrestling over the years. The Hovdens also have four boys who all wrestled for Owatonna. Jacob was on the Huskies l998 State Championship team, while brother, Gabe, was a member of the Huskies first State Tournament team in l996. Youngest brother, Adam, also competed on a State Tournament team for the Huskies. The Hovdens also have three daughters in Samantha, Susie and Vennesa.

Coach Nelson has been one of the most dedicated members of the Owatonna coaching staff over the years. He has also contributed as President of the Owatonna Wrestling Association. He has coached and directed over 20 years at the youth levels, as well as15 years with the Owatonna Freestyle Club. He was named Region One “Freestyle Coach of the Year” in 2006 by Minnesota USA Wrestling. He has been involved inone capacity or another with Owatonna wrestling since the mid-1970’s. Besides OWA President, Dave has also served as OWA Youth Wrestling Director. He is a most valued person and plays an instrumental role in the success of Owatonna wrestling!

Family: Wife - Tiffany, they have two children, one son and one daughter.
Chet is a 1998 graduate of Owatonna High School and a member of the Huskies 1998 State Championship team. Chet was an outstanding wrestler, capturing the Section 1AAA championship at 125 lbs in 1998. He went on to compete at Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota. He currently works as a supervisor in the auto parts and service department at Harry Brown auto sales in Faribault.

Ben started coaching with the Huskies junior high program last season and did an outstanding job! He provides great experience as a successful high school competitor.
Ben was a state placewinner for the Huskies, placing 5th in State at 152 pounds in 2000. As a sophomore Ben was part of the Huskies 1998 state championship team too. He was a teammate to the Huskies coach Chet Macht. Ben also served as assistant coach on the La Crosse team last spring.
